CITB Health and Safety Awareness (HSA)

This course highlights potential hazards when working on site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employer’s responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

CITB health and safety course is a minimum legal requirement for construction sites. One of the main benefits of this CITB 1 day health and safety course is that it helps towards gaining your CSCS labourer’s card.

Having this CSCS green card will help you gain access to construction sites.

Course Duration

This is a one-day course. Delegates are required to complete the full-day training to be eligible for certification.

We also offer weekend courses for those who aren’t able to take time out of work.

  • how your role fits into the control and management of the site
  • risk assessments and method statements
  • performing safely and asking for advice
  • how to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered in either a classroom or virtually. For classroom courses, this can be at our site or yours.

We use a range of delivery techniques to provide a highly interactive course taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations. There will also be some self-study outside of the course.

Entry requirements

  • To be able to read, write and understand English to a good level. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area
  • If you need to re-sit the test, you must do this within 90 days of the original course date at an additional charge
  • You will need to provide a valid ID on the first day of the course, such as a copy of your passport or driving licence.

How much does it cost?

The cost of this course is £150 plus VAT per person.

Assessment 

You must contribute throughout the day’s training.

Exam paper

Assessment will be by an exam paper. The examination demonstrates to external bodies that the qualification is only awarded to successful delegates following an examination. Delegates are expected to be interactive during the course.

The paper consists of 25 questions

  • 20 questions worth 1 mark, 5 questions worth 2 marks

You will have 30 minutes to complete the test and the test is closed-book

The pass mark is 25 out of 30 (83%).

Please note

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.
